Alice Ocie Carpenter, age 82 of New Vienna, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Continental Manor Nursing Home in Blanchester, Ohio. Mrs. Carpenter was born November 25, 1926 to the late James and Georgan Fryman on Brushy Creek in Smile, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Carpenter who died in September of 1994. They were married June 19, 1948.

Alice and Paul lived in Wilmington, Ohio from 1961 to 1981 and were members of the Wilmington Church of Christ. They then moved to Dresden, Ohio until 1985 and then to Loxley, Alabama, where Paul was an Elder at the Belforest Church of Christ and Alice played guitar and sang. After her husband's passing Alice moved back home to Ohio to Appletree Apartments in New Vienna, residing with her cat Minnie.

Besides her faith she was most proud of raising her kids and is survived by four sons - Freddy Kanet of Baltimore, Maryland; Bobby Kanet and wife Denise of Marysville, Ohio; Jim Carpenter and wife Tammy, and Jerry Carpenter and wife Beth, both of New Vienna, OH; two daughters - Jackie Spinks and husband Roger of Xenia, Ohio and Janice Bowyer and husband Richard of Sherwood, Arkansas; one sister - Eileen Holcomb of Georgetown, Ohio; twelve Grandchildren who all referred to her as Gans (which was short for grandma) - Robby and Mary Kanet, B.J., Jamey, Kristen, Brittany and Brooke Carpenter, Chad, Casey, and Courtney Spinks, Jayne Smith, and Sherri Dobbins; one great-granddaughter - Taylor Paul, and a special caregiver Martha Zimmer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceded in death by two infant daughters - Cathy and Carol Carpenter; three brothers - Russell, Orvell, and Chester Fryman; and seven sisters - Bethel Dalton, Bertha Saunders, Media McRoberts, Vena Bumgardner, Viola Rascov, Eula Richtor, and Sylvia Busah.

Alice will be most remembered for her strong Christian faith, warm smile, never meeting a stranger, and her love for animals and nature.

Funeral services will be held at 10.00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Jim Goebel will officiate. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the funeral home.
