Bessie Jean Poff, age 88 of Ripley, Ohio, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley. She was retired from the former U.S. Shoe Factory in Ripley and was a member of the Ripley Church of Christ. Mrs. Poff was born August 9, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of the late Wilbur and Nortie (Adams) Scott. She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Elza “Bert” Poff; two sisters – Doris Woodruff and Thelma Sereta and one brother – Delbert Scott.
Mrs. Poff is survived by one son – James Poff and wife Chris of St. Joseph, Minnesota; one daughter – Donna Jean Clement and husband David of Conway, South Carolina; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother – Kenneth Scott of Newark, Ohio; two brother-in-laws – Nathan Poff and wife Thelma and Bill Poff, all of Ripley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. John Neu will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral Home. Interment will be in Charter Oak Cemetery in Aberdeen, Ohio.
