Betty Jo Leiwig, age 90 of Ripley, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at her home.  She was a fifth grade teacher for the Western Brown School District for twenty-one years.   She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Eastern Star, the Ripley Lions Club, the Friends of the Library, the Birthday Friendship Club and attended the Maysville Church of Christ in Christian Union in Maysville, Kentucky.  Mrs. Leiwig was born June 3, 1928 in Cheviot, Ohio the daughter of the late Astor Jackson and Myrtle Brown.  She was also preceded in death by her husband – M/Sgt. Clovis Earl Leiwig, Jr. and one son – Lt. Col. Jackson P. Leiwig.

Mrs. Leiwig is survived by one son – Michael E. Leiwig (Rosemary) of Cibolo, Texas; daughter-in-law – Tammy Leahy of South Carolina; sister-in-law – Rebecca Vaughn of Miamisburg, Ohio; grandchildren –
Barbara Coonce (Bill) of Omaha, Nebraska, David Leiwig of Cibolo, Texas, Patrick Leiwig, Josh Blanco and Dana MacArthur of Red Bank, New Jersey; great grandchildren – Marcus Leiwig of New Braunfels, Texas, Madeleine Leiwig of Schertz, Texas and Zachary Coonce of Omaha, Nebraska.  She also leaves behind a host of friends including Gail Boone (who was also Betty’s caregiver), Eric and Barb Erickson of Russellville, Ohio and Donnie and Diane Thompson of Ripley, Ohio and many more.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.  Pastor Marilyn Roades will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 5.  Interment will follow the funeral service in Miami Cemetery in Waynesville, Ohio.
