Bill Downing

Norman W. "Bill" Downing, age 77 of Ripley, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer from the United States Army, after twenty years of service. He was a member of the Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio, a member of the Maysville VFW and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio. Mr. Downing was born November 2, 1932 in Ripley, Ohio the son of the late William and Cecilia (Fussnecker) Downing. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Woody and Doris Ann Downing; two brothers, Paul and Allen Downing; one step grandson, Keith Hall.

Mr. Downing is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Evelyn (Walker) Downing; one stepdaughter, Kathy Hall of Ripley, Ohio; two stepsons, Rob Truitt of Higginsport, Ohio and Randy Truitt of Ripley, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Klump of Ripley, Ohio and Ruth Thompson of Sardinia, Ohio; two brothers, Gene Downing of Russellville, Ohio and Jerry Downing of Georgetown, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Dohrman Byers will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
