Buddy Albert Manning, age 82 of Georgetown, Ohio, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley, Ohio. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of Ripley Church of Christ, where he served as a elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and in other roles as necessary. He was also a United States Navy Korean War Veteran and a member of the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown, Ohio.
Mr. Manning was born June 28, 1931 in Vanceburg, Kentucky the son of the late Florine (Gilispie) and Glenn Manning.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Manning.
He is survived by his wife, Pat (Taylor) Manning; a sister-in-law, Clara Bishop of Falmouth, Kentucky; one niece, Carolyn (Brian) Reid of Falmouth, Kentucky; one nephew, Alvin Richard Bishop, Jr. of Independence, Kentucky; three great nephews; one great niece; special niece and nephew, Ting Lu and Weifeng Li and daughters; cousins and friends; a son, James Manning; a grandson, Jimmy and a great grandson, Will.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.
John Neu will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the funeral service in Winchester Cemetery, Winchester, Ohio with military honors provided by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 of Georgetown, Ohio.
