Cathy Barclay Profile Photo

Catherine Mae “Cathy” Barclay, nee Smith, originally of New Richmond, Ohio and previously of Amelia and Georgetown, Ohio was called Home to be with the Lord on May 18th, 2026. She was born October 20, 1953 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to Floyd and Goldie Smith.

Known as Mamaw Grandma to her three grandsons, Colton Levi Ewing, whom she nicknamed Gator, Wesley Axl Ewing, she named The Slug and Jakobi Ruger Ewing, she would call J.R. She was a dedicated and present grandmother, always thinking of the next quilt she would be designing for them, and could be found, even in the hardest moments at baseball games and school events, to support the boys she loved the most.

Mother to James “Adam” Barclay, who was preceded in death. Daughter, Eve Marie Ewing of Mt. Orab, Ohio, and son-in-law whom she also adored the most, Dustin Ewing. Her two children were fathered by James Barclay of New Richmond, Ohio whom she was happily widowed. Cathy is also survived by her siblings, Mary Carrier, Sheri Seip, Ruth Butler (Ken), Roy Smith (Lisa), George Smith, Patty Burton (Buddy) and baby brother Floyd Smith (Lisa). Cathy was preceded in death by brothers David, Sonny, John, Danny and DJ Smith.

Cathy was a friend and confidant to many. To name them all would be impossible, but she found a special place in her heart for a few. Her 65 year childhood best friends, Jackie Feldkamp-Bice and Becky Feldkamp-Nelson, were more than friends, but sisters. Sharon Carson, Olivia Cooper and Jodi Watts, all who stood by her in her final moments. She anticipated the beautiful reunion with the loved one she called “mom” who without a doubt welcomed her into heaven, the one and only Rosie Feldkamp. She also had love for her cat, Rita Ironkat.

Cathy would want you to remember to be quilted together with love, sewn together in Jesus and as we shall remember, she was the binding that held us all together.
