Charles H. Crisp, age 90 of Ripley, Ohio died Friday, July 1, 2016 of congestive heart failure at the home of his daughter in Georgetown, Ohio.  He was born May 18, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio, one of 9 children of the late Lester and Nora (Carter) Crisp.  As a Kentucky Colonel, Mr. Crisp spent much of his time in community service including past president of the Brown County Fair Board as well as the Ripley Kiwanis Club and served on the Ripley Village Council and the Board of Public Affairs.  He was a founding member of the Ripley Life Squad and a longtime member of the Ripley Presbyterian Church.  As a veteran, Charlie served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.  Mr. Crisp worked for G & J Pepsi-Cola for 45 years.  Starting as a route salesman for Pepsi in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was transferred to the Ripley Bottling Company in 1955 as sales manager and was subsequently promoted to Vice President and General Manager of G & J Pepsi Cola.  Charlie loved to work and he loved his job!  He always said Monday was his favorite day of the week because he could go back to work.  When Charlie arrived in Ripley the Pepsi Plant had 14 employees.  At his retirement, the plant employed 75 people and was in the top 10 highest per capita consumption of Pepsi Cola products in the United States.

Besides his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty (Weaver) Crisp.  He is survived by one daughter - Dody Staker (Johnny) of Georgetown,Ohio; three grandchildren - Jill Baldwin (Todd) of Louisville, Kentucky, J. Staker (Katie) of Georgetown, Ohio and Casey Staker (Sarah) of Colorado Springs, Colorado;  six great-grandchildren- Ella and Luke Baldwin of Louisville, Kentucky, Abigail and Caroline Staker, of Georgetown, Ohio and Vivian and Charlie Staker of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his longtime companion of nearly 20 years, Jerry McLain.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Chaplain Vernon Green of Stein Hospice will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00P.M.-2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio with military services provided by the Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post # of Ripley, Ohio.
