Charles L. Rice

Charles L. Rice, age 83 of Georgetown, Ohio died Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Mr. Rice was a life long resident of Brown County, Ohio and a prominent tobacco farmer, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the VFW Post #7496 in Felicity, Ohio; the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 in Ripley, Ohio; past master and sixty year member of the Union Lodge F&AM #71 in Ripley, the Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite of Cincinnati and the Syrian Shrine. He was born on November 26, 1925 in Higginsport, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin Arden and Ethel (Farley) Rice. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Ross) Rice in 1991.

Mr. Rice is survived by one son - David C. Rice of Georgetown, Ohio; one daughter - Ellyn Grant and husband Russ of Vero Beach, Florida; six granddaughters - Aimee Pfeffer, Shannon Rice, Minda McDaniel, Kristin Neihoff, Marissa Johnson and Lauren Grant; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters - Mary Bolender of Kettering, Ohio and Betty Kreimer of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother-in-law - Morgan Ross, Jr. of Ripley, Ohio and one sister in-law - Virginia Rickey of Vero Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Jaime Wirth will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. on Thursday June 11, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley with military services by the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio.
