Darlene Kay Black, age 86 of Bethel, Ohio passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born August 5, 1939 in Batesville, Indiana the daughter of the late Mayo F. and Eva Rebecca (Sheriff) Howlett. Darlene was a devoted homemaker, committed to ensuring her family felt loved and cherished throughout her life. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mt. Orab, Ohio, where she contributed to her community with grace and kindness. Her unwavering dedication to her family and faith will be fondly remembered by those who knew her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years – David Albert Black, Sr. in 2014 whom she married June 28, 1958, one brother –Mayo Eugene Howlett and one sister – Madonna Sue Keaney.
Mrs. Black is survived by four children – David A. Black, Jr. of Bethel, Ohio, Ruth Ann Wilker of Mt. Carmel, Ohio, James M. Black and wife Paula of Bethel, Ohio and Mary Beth Conrad and husband Garry of Hamersville, Ohio; six grandchildren – Benjamin Wilker and wife Becca of Sample, North Carolina, Faith Black of Lexington, Kentucky, Alex Black, Jared Conrad and Zachary Conrad all of Bethel, Ohio and Morgan Conrad of Cincinnati, Ohio; three great grandchildren – Savannah, Jorja and Magnolia Wilker, one sister – Karen Smith of Springfield, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio. Pastor Ted House will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.
