Dollie Ruth Newland

Dollie Ruth Newland, age 80 of Georgetown, Ohio died Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. Mrs. Newland had been employed at the US Shoe Company in Norwood, Ohio and the Honeywell Company in St. Petersburg, Florida. She and her late husband Joseph Newland owned and operated the former Midway Restaurant in Georgetown, Ohio for many years. Mrs. Newland was born May 28, 1935 in Adams County, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert and Audrey Bernice (Prather) Musser. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years – Joseph L. Newland in 1998, they were married October 4, 1952; two infant sons – Robert James and Michael Todd Newland; five brothers – Marian, Francis, Paul, Curtis and Samuel Musser and one sister – Marjorie Newland.

Mrs. Newland is survived by two daughters – Janice Ruth Gray and husband Gary and Pamela Jo Purdy and husband Dale all of Georgetown, Ohio; four grandchildren – Christina (Gray) Sims and husband James of Ripley, Ohio, Timothy Gray and wife Danielle of Georgetown, Ohio, Stacy (Purdy) Jalapa and husband Roy of Mt. Orab, Ohio and Derrick Purdy and wife Katie of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven great grandchildren – Jessica and Jordan Sims, Kai and Julian Jalapa and Riley, Haley Jo and Jackson D. Purdy; one sister – Birdie Dyer and husband Jim of Lancaster, Ohio; one brother – Robert Musser and wife Diane of Georgetown, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Cindy Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio.
