Don Spires

Donald Ray Spires, Sr., age 69 of Ripley, Ohio, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a police officer for the Ripley Police Dept. for 25 years, was the Transportation Supervisor for the R-U-L-H school system for 20 years and was the owner and operator of K & S Towing for 40 years. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Police and attended The Ripley Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Spires was born on December 19, 1938 in Higginsport, Ohio the son of the late William H. and Lylia (Prather) Spires. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and JoAnn Spires and one brother, Bobby Spires.

Mr. Spires is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Barbara (Mastin) Spires; seven children; ten step children; sixteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two brothers - Ronnie Spires of Ripley and Paul Spires of New Richmond, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Clark Castle will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 12 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Shinkle's Ridge Cemetery near Higginsport, Ohio.
