Dorothy Evelyn Stout, age 86 of Bethel, Ohio went into glory on Tuesday August 11, 2026 to a great reception in heaven! She was born October 7, 1940 as Dorothy Holbrook in Flemingsburg, Kentucky the daughter of Tyde and Ruby (Hughes) Holbrook. Dorothy was known by different names throughout her wonderfully blessed and bountiful life, but most called her Dottie. She was the third of four Holbrook children that included Gerald, Ramona and Rick. Dottie grew up primarily in Fincastle, Ohio where she went to school and attended church and ultimately graduated high school from Sardinia in 1958. She went to business college in Lexington, Kentucky and after graduating became the farmers wife of John Stout on May 4, 1963. John lovingly called her “Dot” and they were blessed with three children and eventually seven grandchildren throughout their marriage of 61 years. Jonda, Jeff and Jeremy called her “Mom” and they couldn’t have been blessed with a better mom in the whole world! Dottie was able to balance farm duties with family management and faith responsibilities all while maintaining a sweet smile and gentle spirit that was on display to everyone she met. She would say Jesus made life worth living and Dottie lived a faithful Christian life being involved with mentoring and ministering as a faithful and fruitful member of the Bible Baptist Church of Mt. Orab for many years. She thrived in the roles of Sunday School Teacher, Secretary, Choir member and Christian Discipler for many younger ladies along the way. The last name that she adored and adopted was “Nana”, she was excited to have that title and honor for her seven grandchildren whom she loved and spoiled!! A cancer survivor twice and unexplainably able to endure through many other health challenges, she loved her family and close country friends and never passing up a game of scrabble or conversations with her neighbors. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband - John, one brother - Gerald Holbrook and one granddaughter – Ella Louise Stout.
Mrs. Stout is survived by her three children – Jonda Fishman and husband Gary of West Chester, Ohio, Jeff Stout and wife Ginger of Owenton, Kentucky and Jeremy Stout and wife Courtney of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; six grandchildren – Joshua Fishman of West Chester, Ohio, Keith Stout of Owenton, Kentucky and Taryn, Presley, Elyott and Judsyn Stout all of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; one sister - Ramona Berry and one brother - Rick Holbrook and wife Martha.
