Dorothy Verney

Dorothy C. Verney, age 95 of Felicity, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. She was born July 27, 1930 in Utica, New York the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Gleason) Coy. Dorothy was a retired secretary whose dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her faith as a member of St. George Catholic Church in Georgetown, Ohio. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and loved engaging in word puzzles and shared many happy hours playing bridge with her friends. In addition to her hobbies, Dorothy was a passionate Atlanta Braves baseball fan, proudly supporting her team through every season. Her warm spirit and joyful presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dorothy leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by family and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands – Arthur S. Verney in 2000 and Josef Kroes in 2017, one daughter – Diane Quattlander in 2003 and one brother – Dave Coy.

Mrs. Verney is survived by one son – Dan Verney and wife Sandy of Felicity, Ohio; one sister – Mary Jo Nelson of Charleston, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews and special friends – Jim and Leona Haworth of Vanderbilt, Michigan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 6647 Van Buren Street, Georgetown, Ohio 45121. Fr. Frank Amberger will be the Celebrant. Following cremation, inurnment will be in the Clarkson-Union Cemetery in Hamlin, New York at the convenience of the family. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
