Earl Wendell Poole

Earl Wendell Poole, age 78 of Ripley, Ohio, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a meat cutter, for over fifty years, for area grocery stores including Georgetown IGA, Larry's IGA in Maysville, Kentucky, Bob Richards and Clyde's both in Ripley, Ohio, a United States Army Korean War Veteran and a member of the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 in Ripley, Ohio. Wendell was born on September 2, 1930 in Brown County, Ohio, the son of the late Michael and Mabel (Howell) Poole. He was also preceded in death by one sister - Kathryn Roush and one brother - Leland Eads.

Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Virginia (Fritz) Poole, whom he married September 1, 1950; five children - David Poole and wife Susan of Ripley, Ohio; Sue Barger and husband Daniel of Hamersville, Ohio; Stephen Poole and Richard Poole, both of Ripley, Ohio and Robert Poole of Louisville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren - Lori Sexton, Bryan Poole and wife Amanda, Megan Seip and husband Zach, Nikki, Madison, McKeena, Neil and Joseph Poole; four great-grandchildren - Jacob Poole, Alyssa Seip, Sidney Nuss and Ian Sexton; two brothers - George Poole and wife Kaye of Mooreshill, Indiana and Marion Poole of Ripley, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 22, 2008 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio.
