Edward M. Hiser, age 89 of Georgetown, Ohio died Thursday, July 30, 2026 at his residence. Ed was born January 2, 1937 in Levanna, Ohio the son of the late Henry and Mabel (Flora) Hiser. Mr. Hiser was a 1956 graduate of Ripley High School in Ripley, Ohio where he excelled in athletics. He is still the all-time leading scorer in men’s basketball with a four-year total of 1763 points. Ed is a member of the Ripley High school and Brown County Athletic Halls of Fame. After high school graduation, he attended Hiwassee College for two years and then transferred to East Tennessee State University and earned a bachelor of science degree and later a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Cincinnati. Ed was an industrial arts and driver education teacher at Ripley, Mt. Orab, Western Brown School District and retired from the Southern Hills Vocational School 1991 as the district education coordinator. He enjoyed all sports; tennis, softball, basketball, hunting out West, fishing in Lake Erie and took up snow skiing at the age of 60. On many weekends he enjoyed browsing through yard sales and flea markets looking for that certain artifact.
Ed is survived by two daughters – Bridget Hiser of Batavia, Ohio and Brooke Hiser of Georgetown, Ohio; three grandchildren – Melissa Teague and Quintin and Camden Hiser; one great grandson – Landon Teague and special longtime friend – Mike Hanselman of Georgetown, Ohio.
Following cremation, a memorial graveside service will be held at the Pisgah Ridge Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio. Service time and date are currently pending. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
