Edna Ethel Toler Mills, age 91 of Georgetown, Ohio died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on March 25, 1916 in Sardinia, Ohio on the freed gist slave settlement the daughter of the late James Peter and Nona (Wallace) Toler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vivian (Tye) Mills, they were married on May 17, 1941, one son, Wade Alan Mills, six brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Delaney Chapel A.M.E. and believed in community service. She was president of Grow, Inc., Brown County MRDD trustee, Adams/Brown County Clinic, National Professional Business Womens Club, Ohio Valley Research Development Commission (OVRDC) board member, American Cancer Society Volunteer in Brown County and was a 4H Club advisor in Ripley, Ohio. Mrs. Mills also authored the grant that resulted in the initial funding for the "Helping Hands" facility in Georgetown, Ohio and worked as a professional nutrition aid for Brown County under The Ohio State University. In 1978 Governor James A. Rhodes selected her as Mother of The Year for mental retardation volunteer service awards for "outstanding devotion and service to the state mental retardation program."

Mrs. Mills is survived by three daughters - Sandra Bealer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Peggy Warner of Sardinia, Ohio and Marsha Mills of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren - Vera Jones and husband Antione, Clarence J. (CJ) Bealer and wife Samantha, Marchandia Bealer and Ernst Warner; five great grandchildren - Asherah, Ty Patrick, Brayden and Austin Bealer and Rishon Jones; one brother - Leon Toler of East Orange, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Thursday. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Research, Ohio Chapter, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
