Elmer Vernon Lofton

Elmer Vernon Lofton, age 94 of Ripley, Ohio, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Hospice of Cincinnati East in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was retired from Thriftway, where he worked as a department manager for over twenty years, and was a former member of The Ripley Village Council. Mr. Lofton was born June 14, 1915 in Ripley, Ohio, the son of the late John P. and Lillie B. (Woodward) Lofton. He was also preceded in death by his wife - Mildred Lee (Morehead) Lofton. one daughter - Bernice Moore, one grandson - Adrian Lofton, two sisters - Margurite Dillard and Laura B. Canada, and three brothers - John, Oscar and Louis Lofton.

Mr. Lofton is survived by three daughters - Lois Jean Sroufe of Ripley, Ohio; Carole V. Stokes of Cincinnati, Ohio and Vivian L. Stewart and husband Cecil Dewberry of Cincinnati, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. James Settles will officiate. There will be no visitation. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church, 32 North 3rd Street, Ripley, Ohio 45167 or to The Beebe Chapel, 438 Main Street, Ripley, Ohio 45167.
