Everett Dale McDaniel, age 81 of Georgetown, Ohio died Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at the Meadowwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Georgetown, Ohio. Dale was widely known for his hard work and devotion to church, country, community, friends and family. As a youth, he worked after school and into the late evenings at the S&M Food Market in West Union, Ohio. He was an original employee of the City Loan & Savings Company in West Union, Ohio. As the company grew he became an employee of their Georgetown branch. Later Dale accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer for Ripley Federal Savings & Loan, a position he held for twenty-six years, until his retirement. He was a United States World War II Army Veteran, a member and officer of the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown, Ohio, chairman of the Brown County General Hospital Board for over twenty years, a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church since April 1, 1960, serving terms as trustee, deacon and elder, and was the smiling face that greeted the congregation and visitors for Sunday morning worship and ecumenical gatherings. He served two terms as president of the Adams-Brown Presbyterian Brotherhood and was a member of the West Union Masonic Lodge F&AM #43, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati and Order of Eastern Star, West Union Chapter #246. Dale's hobby was automobiles, collecting them, caring for them, sharing them and enjoying them as a member of the Zane Trace Automobile Club. One year he collected thirteen cars! Dale was born on October 27, 1927 in West Union, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur McDaniel and Flossie (Tolle) McDaniel Moore. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters - Dean Kimmerly, Wanda Green and Dorothy Potts and one nephew - Mark Moorehead.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of sixty-two years - Carolyn Jean (Leonard) McDaniel, whom he married November 28, 1946; one sister - Nora Belle Moorehead of Cleveland, Ohio; seven nephews - Myron Moorehead, Don, Tom and Earl Kirker, Freddie and Jerry Greene and Neil Potts; five nieces - Jeannie Potts, Sherry Smith, Cecelia Moorehead, Brenda Smoot and Linda Fite and two cousins - Edna and Bobby Joe Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ruth Dunn and David Eversole will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio with Masonic and Scottish Rite Services at 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Tiffin Township Cemetery in West Union, Ohio with veterans services by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180.
