Mr. Fred Anderson, age 90 of Ripley, Ohio, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at The Villa Georgetown Nursing Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a United States Army WW II Veteran, a member of The American Legion Post #367 of Ripley and a member of The Centenary United Methodist Church in Ripley. Mr. Anderson started his career as a sign painter for Germann Brothers, he worked at Pepsi in Ripley for fourteen years, he taught commercial art at The Southern Hills Joint Vocational School for eight years and was later a self employed sign painter/maker. Mr. Anderson also owned and operated The Snack Shack Restaurant in Ripley from 1953 to 1967.
Mr. Anderson was born on September 5, 1917 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Charles J. and Mary Margaret (Higgins) Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Geschwind) Anderson; two sisters - Leah Montgomery and Mary Hendrikson; two brothers - Milburn and Vernon Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is survived by three sons - Danny of Ripley, Donnie and wife Marcia of Cincinnati, Ohio and Darrell and wife Debbie of Kettering, Ohio; three grandchildren - Amanda, Josh and Jesse; three great-grandchildren - Josie, Jasper Frederick and Adelaide.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 18 at The Centenary United Methodist Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Jaime Wirth will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, March 17 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley. Interment will be in Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio with military honors provided by The American Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio.
