Geneva Merrill Baird

Geneva Merrill Baird, age 96 of Ripley, Ohio died Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Ohio. Mrs. Baird was a homemaker and a member of the Ripley Church of Christ. She was born on April 30, 1911 in Eckmansville, Ohio the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrta (Howland) Hughes. Her parents died at any early age and she was raised by her uncle and aunt the late George and Ida Purdin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Blanchard Baird in 1982 and son, Kenneth Baird in 2003.

Mrs. Baird is survived by two daughters - Rosemary Spires and her former husband Enrique Gutierrez of Ripley, Ohio and Rebecca Baird of Ripley, Ohio; four grandchildren - Matthew Spires of Ripley, Ohio, Andrew Spires and wife April of Georgetown, Ohio, Rachel Phillips and husband Justin of Aberdeen, Ohio and Angie Baird of Decatur, Ohio; eleven great grandchildren - Jessica, Alexis, Devon, Austin, Chris, Sky, Riley, Livia and Reece and one great great grandchild that she was eagerly awaiting its birth in April 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. John Neu will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday. Interment will be in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.
