George Raymond "Red" Simpson, age 85 of Mt.Orab, Ohio died Wednesday August 6, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a 1948 graduated of New Haven High School in Verona, Kentucky, a United States Air Force Korean War veteran, owned and operated barber shops in Mt.Orab, Mariemont, and Williamsburg, Ohio until 1976 and was a maintenance supervisor at the U.S. Grant Joint Vocational School in Bethel, Ohio retiring in 1993. Red was born July 30, 1929 in Lexington, Kentucky the son of Oscar and Lola Simpson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers - Maynard and Howard Simpson and two sisters - Mereada Simon and Mary Proud.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years - Nancy (Fisher) Simpson; three children - Kathy Meeker of Mt.Orab, Ohio, Bob Simpson and wife Karin of St. Paris, Ohio and Kelley Simpson of Mt.Orab, Ohio; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers - Jack Simpson of Davenport, Iowa, Joseph Simpson of Long Island, New York, Edward Simpson of St. Cloud, Florida and John Simpson of Greenville, North Carolina; one sister - Edith Hilbert of Mason, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 330 Gay Street, Williamsburg, Ohio. Bob Parr and Vernon Green will officiate.
