Gertrude B. Fithen, age 90 of Georgetown, Ohio, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at her residence. She was a homemaker. Gertrude was born on October 14, 1917 in Felicity, Ohio the daughter late Walter and Lollie (Swick) Newberry. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands - Dewey Everett Fithen in 1963 and John Thorton Fithen in 1982; one daughter - Vera Sue Hollingsworth; five stepdaughters - Rosie Evelyn Sweet, Elise Alberta Truitt, Lucy Alice Jane Hinkle, Betty Marie Garrison and Joyce Ann Musser; one stepson - Gary Lee Fithen; three grandchildren - Linda Kay Baughn, Charles Lynn Bingamon and Perry James Sweet and one brother and sister in-law - Raymond Benjamin and Alberta Newberry.
Mrs. Fithen is survived by one son - Jay Allen Fithen of Georgetown, Ohio; three daughters - Geraldine Armstrong of Cleveland, Ohio, Patty Watson and husband Alan of New Richmond, Ohio and Sandra Purdin of Georgetown, Ohio; one stepdaughter - Eva Jeanette Applegate of Dayton, Ohio; four stepsons - Dewey Fithen, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kenneth Fithen and wife Connie of Felicity, Ohio and Paul Fithen and wife Susan and Everett Fithen and wife Anita all of West Chester, Ohio; one adopted son - Ernie Moore of Georgetown, Ohio; twelve grandchildren - Steven Thomas, Charity Sue Hollingsworth, Trudie Ann,April Raedine,Tony Lee Armstrong and wife Jannie, Mickie Jo Adams, Charlene Ann Fithen, Kevin Allen Fithen and wife Nichole, Melissa Scott, Amy Watson and Josh and Jeremy Purdin; seven great grandchildren - Dominic, Mariah, Dustin, Geriann and Brigett Armstrong and Chase Alexander and Kane Allen Fithen; numerous step grandchildren, step great- grandchildren, step great-great grandchildren and step great-great-great grandchildren and many family and friends who all loved her and will miss her greatly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Bonnie Bohn, Chaplin from Crossroads Hospice will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Farmer's Chapel Cemetery outside of Georgetown, Ohio.
