Harold J. Spielvogel

Mr. Harold J. Spielvogel, age 90 of Sardinia, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at The Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley, Ohio. He was a member of The Lighthouse Baptist Church in Yorkshire, New York. After being a farmer and then manager for Red Owl Grocery Stores in Valley City, North Dakota, the family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1949 where he owned and operated the Fairfax Delicatessen near Dupont Circle. Harold moved to Arcade, New York in 1961 with his son Kenneth, where he was employed at Marshs Market in Yorkshire, New York and Hogans Market in Java Village. Moving back to Washington, D.C. in 1964, he later returned to Arcade in 1971. Due to illness, he moved to southern Ohio with his son for the last four years.

Mr. Spielvogel was born on December 28, 1915 at Grano, North Dakota, the son of the late Rudolph and Mabel (Jorris) Spielvogel. He was married to the late and former Earline Gullacher. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deanna Lingafelt; one brother, Myron Spielvogel; two sisters - Ethel Whitson and Ardis Zarodney.

Mr. Spielvogel is survived by two sons - Donald Spielvogel of Arcade, New York and Kenneth Spielvogel of Sardinia, Ohio; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Graveside services and interment will take place at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 15 at Curriers Cemetery in Arcade, New York.
