Iris A. (Garcia) Slone

Iris Awilda Slone, age 89 of Union Township, Ohio formerly of Mt. Orab, Ohio died Friday, April 27, 2018 at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Orab United Methodist Church and the Mt. Orab Women’s Club. Iris was born January 11, 1929 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Luis and Luisa (Hernandez) Garcia. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ollie James Slone in 2017.

Mrs. Slone is survived by one daughter – Helen Slone Spurgeon and husband Dennis of Union Township, Ohio; two grandchildren – Jason Spurgeon and wife Margo of Milford, Ohio and Jami Seibert and husband Jay of Anderson Township, Ohio; three great grandchildren – William Spurgeon and Max and Sam Seibert; one brother – Michael Garcia of Aguadilla , Puerto Rico; one brother-in-law -  Carson Slone of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Mt. Orab United Methodist Church, 212 Church Street, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154. Denis Beausejour will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Union Township, Ohio at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 5, 2018. The Cahall Funeral Home in Mt. Orab, Ohio is serving the family.
