James Joseph Callahan, age 85 of Georgetown, Ohio formerly of Milford, Ohio died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a United States WWII Army Veteran and owned and operated Burger Chef Restaurants in Milford and Montgomery, Ohio. Jim was born on April 12, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late James A. and Elsie (Fetick) Callahan. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two wives- Dorothy "Cookie" (Kruse) Callahan and Elizabeth "Betty" (Brandis) Hackmeister- Callahan; one step-daughter- Barb Lewis and one sister- Mary Munz.
Mr. Callahan is survived by six children - James Callahan, Jr. and wife Janet, Andrew Callahan and wife Andrea Okun, Paul Callahan and wife Jennifer, Marty Stephan and husband James, Bernie Callahan and wife Kim and Sally Hittner and husband Mark; two step-children- Vera Benedetti and husband Al and Ed Hackmeister and wife Judy; one step- son in-law- Rick Lewis; thirty-two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
An anatomical gift was made to the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the St. Andrews Church, 552 Main Street, Milford, Ohio 45150. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Ohio Veterans Home, 2003 Veterans Blvd., Georgetown, Ohio 45121.
