James Herman Riley, age 85 of Portsmouth, Ohio died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a retired postal worker, carpenter and a United States WW II Army Veteran with General Patton's 3rd Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Post #23 and Peerless Post #10 both in Portsmouth, Ohio. Jim was born on May 11, 1923, in Greenup County, Kentucky, the son of the late Ernest and Bertha (Butler) Riley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother - Ernest Elwood Riley.

Mr. Riley is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Alma (Mauk) Riley, whom he married July 27, 1942; one son - Mike Riley and wife Rita of Georgetown, Ohio; two grandchildren - Brian Riley and wife Julie of Allston, Massachusetts and Stephanie Brickweg and husband Brandon of Mooresville, North Carolina and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Georgetown Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Bill Kirby will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Garden in Wheelersburg, Ohio. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgetown Baptist Church Building Fund, 794 South Main Street, Georgetown, Ohio 45121. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
