James “Skip” Spires, age 82 of Hamersville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. He was born September 6, 1943 in Rome, Ohio the son of the late James Elmer and Freda Juanita (Reed) Spires. Skip proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and the values he embraced during his service continued to guide him throughout his life. He had a distinguished career as a manager for Senco, where he was respected by colleagues and friends alike. A dedicated member of the Matthew Carter American Legion Post #365 in Manchester, Ohio, Skip's commitment to service extended beyond his military career. His faith was an integral part of his life and he was a cherished member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mt. Orab, Ohio. Skip was a passionate sports enthusiast. In his youth, he thrived on the excitement of playing softball and football. Later in life, he discovered a profound love for golf and became a devoted supporter of the Mason County High School boys' basketball team in Maysville, Kentucky. Additionally, he enjoyed the thrill of riding his Harley and watching NASCAR, activities that brought him great joy. Skip's infectious sense of humor and warmth left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered fondly for the laughter he brought into the lives of others. Skip will be deeply missed by family, friends and all whose lives he touched. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother – Bill Spires, two infant sisters – Linda and Brenda Spires, mother and father-in-law – Walter and Essie Sears, two brothers-in-law – Charles Sears and Dennie Pennington.

Mr. Spires is survived by his loving wife of 59 years – Louise (Sears) Spires whom he married November 24, 1966; one daughter – Kelly Johnston and husband Jim of Batavia, Ohio; two grandchildren – Sydney McFarland and Blake McFarland both of Batavia, Ohio; one brother-in-law – John Sears and wife Jeanette of Bethel, Ohio; one sister-in-law – Paula Pennington of Anderson Township, Ohio; three nephews – Randy Spires and wife Roberta of Springfield, Ohio, Dave Wedmore and wife Sue of Williamsburg, Ohio and Matt Wedmore of Williamsburg, Ohio and several great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Bible Baptist Church, 990 West Main Street, Mt.Orab, Ohio 45154. Pastor Ted House will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Monday at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Memorial Gardens near Milford, Ohio. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
