James R. Staggs

James Richard Staggs, age 72 of Georgetown, Ohio died Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. Mr. Staggs was a retired custodian for twenty-six years for the Georgetown Exempted Village School District. He was also an Army Korean War veteran, a member of the Ripley Assembly of God Church and the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180. Mr. Staggs was born on January 17, 1935 in West Union, Ohio the son of the late Floyd Arthur and Leota (Stone) Staggs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean (Maynard) Staggs in 2005.

Mr. Staggs is survived by one son - Dan Staggs and wife Sheree of Georgetown, Ohio; three grandchildren - Daniel Staggs and wife Amanda, Matthew Staggs and wife Beth and Nathan Staggs; four great grandchildren - Jonathon, Mason, Hannah and Madison Staggs; one brother - Ron Staggs of West Union, Ohio and one sister - Wilma Jean Glasscock of Cherry Fork, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Revs. Bill Jones and James Robinson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. Friday. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio with veteran services by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180. If desired, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Hope, 215 Hughes Boulevard, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154.
