James A. Yates, Jr

James A. Yates, Jr., age 67 of Ripley, OH and formerly of Troy, NY, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, KY. He was retired from Energy Corporation in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Yates was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Ripley, OH. He was also a member of The Tennessee Walking Horse Association and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Yates was born on January 9, 1940 in Troy, NY, the son of the late James A. and Florence (Braskowitz) Yates, Sr.

Mr. Yates is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cathy Myers Yates; two daughters - Patty Ann McDermott of RI and Sue Ann Case of Albany, NY; one son James A. Yates, III of Albany, NY; one stepson, Curt White of Ripley, OH; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters in law - Julie Maxwell of Georgetown, OH and Eva Fahrnbach of Ripley, OH; one brother in law, Wayne Myers of Georgetown, OH.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2007 at Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, OH. Rev. James Rawlings will officiate. Interment will be in Red Oak Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to: The Ripley First Presbyterian Church, 114 Mullberry St., Ripley, OH 45167 -OR- any horse relief society or charity of the donor's choice.
