Janet Sutherland

Janet Louise Sutherland, age 87 of Fayetteville, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 9, 1939 in Sardinia Ohio the daughter of the late Homer Waits and Georgia (Frost) Pagett. Janet spent her life in the Fayetteville community, where she became a familiar and cherished presence. She dedicated over 25 years of service to the Village of Fayetteville as Clerk of Courts and proudly served her community as a member of the Fayetteville Fire Department. Janet also spent several years as the owner and operator of a local restaurant and bar and was involved with Sutherland Construction. Through her many years of work and service, she touched the lives of countless people and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. While Janet accomplished much throughout her life, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, watch them grow and share in the many special moments that brought them together. Janet had a special fondness for collecting pink flamingos, watching her daily stories and decorating her yard for each season. Her greatest legacy will not be measured by the years she worked or the accomplishments she achieved, but by the love she gave to her family and the memories she created along the way. Janet will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, friends and the many people whose lives she touched. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her love, her traditions, her stories and the joy she found in simply being together with the people she loved most. Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husbands - Joe Sutherland and John Crone, two sons - Curtis Sutherland and Dale Sutherland, son-in-law - Kenneth Rummel, great-grandson - Opie Eichhorn, great-great-grandson - Keegan Gould and two sisters - Maxine Mains and Rosemarie Waits.

Mrs. Sutherland is survived by three children - Tim (Loretta) Crone of Midland, Ohio, Debbie Rummel of Fayetteville, Ohio and Jeff (Phyllis) Crone of Lynchburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren - Tim (Devin) Crone, Dawn Crone, Clifford (Rachael) Crone, Kenneth “Bud” Rummel, Jackie Rummel, Katelyn Crone, Danielle (Richard) Eichhorn and Ryan (Samantha) Hite; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and two siblings - Patty Baird and Kenny Waits.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio. Bob Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 28, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ohio
