Janice Evelyn Waterfield, of Hamersville, Ohio and of 98 years well lived, entered her heavenly home on May 1, 2026. She left behind a rich legacy of faith and love. A proud member of a farming family, she carried a deep appreciation for hard work, stewardship of the land and the simple joys of rural life. She had a deep admiration for farmers and understood the hard work and sacrifice involved in providing for others. She often found quiet joy in watching dairy life unfold on the farm – often from her kitchen window where she would watch calves grow and mature into part of the herd she and her husband so faithfully loved and tendered together. Those everyday moments reflected her deep connection to the land, the animals and the life they built side by side. Janice found great joy in mentoring youth as a Hamersville 4-H advisor, investing in generations with her wisdom, encouragement and love of farm life.

Her church was the cornerstone of her life. A member of the Mt. Nebo Global Methodist Church, she served faithfully and carried a special passion for missions, believing strongly in being the hands and feet of Jesus by faithfully supporting efforts to help others both near and far.

Janice was known for her deep patriotism, evident in the way she proudly flew the American flag. She had a love of country, paired with heartfelt gratitude for those who served in the military. She never forgot the sacrifices made to protect the freedoms she cherished.

Janice was born July 1, 1927 in Felicity, Ohio the daughter of the late Wayne and Virginia (Hurdle) Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Bob Waterfield in 1997, whom she married November 15, 1945.

She is survived by one son – Kenneth Waterfield and wife Althea of Hamersville, Ohio; one daughter – Linda West and husband Kenneth of Hamersville, Ohio; five grandchildren – Steve Waterfield, Carolyn Karageorges and husband Terry, Mike Waterfield and wife Kristina, Jason West and wife Gretchen and Alyssa Eubanks and husband Shelby and eight great grandchildren – Logan and Leah Waterfield, Calie and Stephen Karageorges, Jennah and Julea Eubanks and Evan and Jack Brown. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and found immense joy in her great grandchildren, often speaking with love about the generations that would follow her. Janice loved sharing stories of the family who had gone before her, especially with her grandchildren, ensuring they understood the importance of their family’s story and legacy. She took great care in passing down these precious memories.

Janice also cherished simple companionship, especially with her special feline friend, “Sue Sue”, who was a comforting and faithful lap companion.
