Jeanne Marie Eastlake, 92, of Lake Waynoka, Ohio, died Sunday, July 21, 2014 at her residence. She was born October 7, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Freda (Hauser) Bowen. She spent her childhood in the German Village in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from St. Joseph Academy. Jeanne received her B.A. in Education from the Ohio State University in 1941 and her M.A. in Education from Xavier University in 1967. She married Lt. Charles Eastlake, U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1942. Charles wrote of meeting his "beautiful, brilliant redhead" that "she was the perfect lady and the darnedest tomboy I ever met!"

Jeanne was a homemaker and devoted mother. She taught elementary school at St. Ursula Villa, in Cincinnati. Jeanne was active in the school and parish of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hyde Park in Cincinnati, as well as St. Xavier High School, from 1951 until 1976. Chuck and Jeanne moved to Lake Waynoka in Brown County, Ohio, where Jeanne enjoyed numerous community activities, substituted in the schools, worked at the polls and volunteered for a variety of organizations and projects. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Arnheim and played the organ there as well as at the sister parishes of St. Elizabeth and St. George.
