Mr. Jerry D. McKenzie, age 62 of Ripley, Ohio, died on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a retired foreman from U.S. Shoe Corp. and currently operated, along with his wife, the Ripley Metal Works Cafeteria, located in the old U.S. Shoe building. He was also a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ and was one of the original designers of the Brown County flag that we know today. Mr. McKenzie was born on August 9, 1942 in Brown County, Ohio the son of the late Roy and Hazel (Thompson) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by one brother, David McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife, Linda (Brierly) McKenzie; one daughter, Missy McGowan of Ripley, Ohio; two grandchildren, Lance and Danielle McGowan; three sisters - Brenda McConnell of Williamsburg, Ohio, Beverly Haitz of Ripley, Ohio and Kathy Rice of Ripley, Ohio; three brothers - Roy "June" McKenzie of Ripley, Ohio, Ronald and Gary McKenzie, both of Higginsport, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio.
