Jerry Martin Smith

Jerry Martin Smith, age 61 of Hamersville, Ohio died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and a retired police officer for the Georgetown Police Department. Jerry was born May 15, 1948 in Georgetown, Ohio, the son of the late Homer and Mary (Adams) Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons - Timothy and Troy Smith and two brothers - Ronald Smith and Kenneth Brookbank.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of seventeen years - Shannon D. (Peck) Smith; five children - William Slover and Jessica Slover both of Hamersville, Ohio; Chassity Smith of Georgetown, Ohio; Heather Smith of Largo, Florida and Jerry Martin Smith II of Georgetown, Ohio; two granddaughters - Brittany Smith of Goshen, Ohio and Kaylee Jones of Milford, Ohio; three sisters - Patricia Hamilton of Hamersville, Ohio; Debbie Alexander and husband Arnold of Ripley, Ohio and Kathie Planck of Amelia, Ohio; father and mother-in-law - Diane and Bill Peck of Blanchester, Ohio; one sister-in-law - Donna Brookbank of Bethel, Ohio; two brothers-in-law - James "Duke" Peck of Amelia, Ohio and Steven Planck of Georgetown, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Bob Cockrell will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shinkle's Ridge Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio with military services provided by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown, Ohio.
