John L. Brooks, Sr., age 85 of Ripley, Ohio, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Villa Georgetown Nursing Home in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a United States Army Veteran Korean War Veteran, was employed at General Electric for over twenty years and was a member of Beebe Chapel in Ripley, Ohio. Mr. Brooks was born January 25, 1929 in Brookesville, Kentucky the son of the late Burgess and Mildred Brooks. He was also preceded in death by one son –John L. Brooks, Jr.; three brothers – Gene, Ed and Raymond Brooks.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years – Emma (Settles) Brooks; four sons – Baron Brooks (Ebony) of Fairborn, Ohio, Kent Brooks of Ripley, Ohio, Vincent Brooks (Trish) of Ripley and Randy Brooks (Charlene) of Maysville, Kentucky; one stepdaughter – Ramona Coleman of Aberdeen, Ohio; twenty one grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one sister – Gertrude Bealer of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley.
Rev. James Settles will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 4, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio with military honors provided by the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 of Ripley.
