John R. Colyer

John Randall Colyer, age 90 of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Anderson in Anderson Township, Ohio. He was born May 21, 1935 in Newtown, Ohio the son of the late Ansel and Lillian (Graham) Colyer. John grew up on a farm in Williamsburg, Ohio, where his early years cultivated a deep appreciation for hard work and the simple joys of life. John dedicated much of his career to serving others as a maintenance worker at Anderson Mercy Hospital, retiring with a legacy of conscientiousness and dependability. His commitment extended beyond his profession into his community, where he was a devoted member of White Oak Church. A man of many passions, John’s enthusiasm for street rods was a defining part of his identity. He restored and maintained his prized vehicles - a 1937 Chevy Coupe and a 426 Hemi Dodge - reflecting his skill and dedication to craftsmanship. His love for working on cars brought him fulfillment and joy throughout his life. Beyond his mechanical interests, John cherished the outdoors. Fishing and camping were favored pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature’s tranquility. Above all, John treasured his family, especially the moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter – Linda Sue Colyer and three brothers and sisters – Joann Riddle, Jerry Colyer and Jim Colyer.

Mr. Colyer is survived by his loving life of 69 years – Roberta “Bertie” (Speaks) Colyer; two sons – John “Randy" Colyer and wife Rosa of Georgetown, Ohio and Steve W. Colyer and wife Lori of Pekin, Illinois; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two sisters – Ada Balzhiser of Wellston, Ohio and Jeanie Bauer of Mt. Orab, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio. Dave Warren will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mt. Orab Cemetery in Mt. Orab, Ohio.
