John Dwight "Guinea" Henize, age 95 of Georgetown, Ohio, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. He retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty-five years of service. He also owned and operated Henize Boat Storage and Repair in Ripley, Ohio for many years as well as operating the boat ramps and docks at Eagle Creek in Ripley and White Oak in Higginsport. Mr. Henize also served on the Georgetown Board of Education for eleven years. He holds the distinction of being the first four year letterman at Georgetown High School and was also inducted into the Georgetown High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Henize attended the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and the Georgetown United Methodist Church.

Mr. Henize was born March 9, 1915 in Georgetown, Ohio the son of the late Denny and Charlotte (Utter) Henize. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife,Louise Henize in 1997; one son, James Dwight Henize and two sisters.

Mr. Henize is survived by his wife - Phyllis Henize; one daughter - Norma Jean Neuenswander and husband Bill of Sun City Center, Florida; one son - John Duane Henize and wife Sharon of Whitehall, Ohio; one step daughter - Ann Carr of Wilmington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Pastor Dave Eversole will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, the Georgetown Presbyterian Church or the Georgetown United Methodist Church.
