John J. (Johnny) Herrmann, age 90 of Ripley, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at The Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley. He was United States Army Air Force WWII Veteran, where he served with the 826th Air Engineers. Mr. Herrmann owned and operated the Mecca CafAC. in Ripley for many years and was also a farmer. He was a member of The Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 in Ripley, St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley and was a past member of The Knight's of Columbus. Mr. Herrmann was born on March 21, 1918 near Ripley, Ohio, the son of the late Walter J. and Rosa (Germann) Herrmann. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Herrmann; three sisters - Bernadean Donally, Alma Rush and Clara Fryer; and four brothers - George, Dick, Ray and Wendell Herrmann.
Mr. Herrmann is survived by one daughter, Brenda K. Strunk of Ripley; one son, J. Keith Herrmann and wife, Judy, of Ripley; two grandsons - Stephen T. Strunk and Shawn K. Herrmann, both of Ripley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 13, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. James Schmitmeyer will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio.
