John S. Kirschner, 73 of Higginsport, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Hospice Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville, Kentucky on Thursday, March 3, 2016.  John was born June 8, 1942 in Maysville, Kentucky the son of the late Charles and Ruth Kirschner. He attended school in Felicity and Higginsport and later married, Lula Crawford, together they had two children, Angie and Charlie. John worked as a deckhand on the Donald B. and later was employed at Cincinnati Rubber, Pamida and worked as a farm hand to many local farmers.

John was preceded in death in 1997 by his loving wife -  Lula Crawford Kirschner, his parents - Charles "Steve" and Ruth Kirschner, one nephew - Phillip "Tuck" Hines, one sister - Wilma Stutz and one brother-in-law - Larry Prater.

He is survived by his daughter - Angela Tolin and husband William of Felicity, Ohio; his son - Charles Kirschner and wife Susan of Wooster, Ohio; three brothers - Gary "Nick" Kirschner of Red Oak, Ohio, Fred Kirschner and wife Bonita of Russellville, Ohio, Joe Kirschner and wife Julie of Bethel, Ohio; three sisters - Ruth "Sissy" Thompson and husband Dwight of Higginsport, Ohio, Wanda Prater and Linda Kirschner both of Ripley, Ohio.  He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren - Jesse Tolin Henson, Rusty Tolin, Brinnley and Jaxon Kirschner; six great grandchildren -  Robbie, Trae, Taylor, Elijah, William, Thomas and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John loved the Cincinnati Reds and going to the games at the Stadium. He also loved to watch the horses and dogs race. He played euchre, fished, was a Bengals fan, rode his bicycle to keep up with the neighbors in Higginsport and looked forward to his weekly shopping trips to Maysville with his best friend David Rice. John didn’t know a stranger.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, also at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at the Shinkle’s Ridge Cemetery near Higginsport, Ohio. John will be carried to his resting place by Pall Bearers -  Nick, Fred and Joe Kirschner (brothers), Rusty Tolin (grandson) and nephews, Cody Joe and John Kirschner. Honorary Pall Bearers - Dwight Thompson (brother-in-law) and David Rice (friend)
