John Raymond Koewler

John Raymond Koewler, age 85 of Ripley, Ohio, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at The Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley, Ohio. He was a United States Navy WW II Veteran and a member of The Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio. He was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley. He was retired from the Brown Co. Engineer's Office where he worked in the bridge department. Mr. Koewler was born at home in Union Township on January 30, 1922 the son of the late John F. and Anna M. (Pfeffer) Koewler. He was also preceded in death by his life long companion, Rosella Ward; one brother, Albert Koewler; one sister, Margaret Ann Koewler.

Mr. Koewler is survived by two sons - Donnie Koewler and wife Maribeth of Ripley, Chris Ward and wife Janet of Ripley; three daughters - Nowana Bingaman and husband Wayne of Ripley, Roxann Wells and husband Danny of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Paula Johnson and husband Danny of Warner Robbins, Georgia; twelve grandchildren - Taylour Day, McKenna Koewler, Robbie and Baylee Bingaman, Kimberley Marshall and Heather Sutton, all of Ripley, Steve, Matt and Josh Johnson of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Duane, Chris and Jeremy Wells of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Schiffer of Allan Park, Michigan and Mary Edith Koewler of Ripley, Ohio; two brothers, Bob and Jerome (Tootles) Koewler of Ripley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Jim Schmitmeyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Wedneday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pisgah Ridge Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio. Military Honors will be provided at the grave site by The Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post #367.
