John Lewis Skinner born March 15,1957, of Felicity, Ohio, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A lifelong farmer, livestock producer, and advocate for agriculture, John dedicated his life to the land, his family, and his community.

Born and raised in Logan, Ohio, John graduated from Logan High School in 1975 before attending The Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in Animal Science. Following college, he returned to the work he loved most—farming and raising livestock. Agriculture was more than a career to John; it was a way of life. Throughout his life, he devoted countless hours to supporting local youth through 4-H programs, helping organize clubs, mentoring young people, and sharing his passion for agriculture with future generations.

John married Susie (Johnston) Skinner in 1980. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. Their marriage of more than four decades was a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

John is survived by his wife, Susie Skinner; his mother, Mary Skinner; his brothers, Jimmy (Diana) Skinner and Joe (Carmen) Skinner; and his sisters, Janet (Grant) Grooms and Jean (Dave) Libben. He is also survived by his children, Katie (Ian) Gulley, Rachel (Jeremy) Dicken, and James (Megan) Skinner.

One of John’s greatest joys was being a grandfather. He leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: James Dicken, Layne Dicken, Piper Gulley, Charlie Gulley, Tate Dicken, and Jesse Dicken. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his seventh grandchild, due in November. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, James Skinner.

Those who knew John will remember his strong work ethic, his unwavering dedication to agriculture, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and the deep love he had for his family. Whether working in the fields, caring for livestock, supporting a 4-H project, or spending time with his grandchildren, John found purpose in serving others and investing in the people he loved.

His legacy lives on through the family and the countless lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Following cremation, there will be no services. Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio is serving the family.
