Joseph Edward Brookbank

Joseph Edward Brookbank, age 64 of Georgetown, Ohio died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a United States Army Veteran, a graduate of the Georgetown High School class of 1962, a dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol from 1965 - 1996, a volunteer for the Georgetown Fire Department from 1963- 2006 and Fire Chief from 1975-2006, a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church, the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown, Ohio, the Georgetown Lions Club and was a Kentucky Colonel. Joe was born on August 2, 1944 the son of the late Wayne and Freda (Gelter) Brookbank. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Brookbank and one son in-law, Donnie Cornette.
Mr. Brookbank is survived by his wife - Phyllis (Mastin) Brookbank; one daughter - Melissa Cornette of Georgetown, Ohio; one son - Jay Hanselman of Georgetown, Ohio; two step-daughters - Patricia Cluxton and husband Jeff of Ripley, Ohio and Susan Schaen and husband Richard of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-sons - Gregory and Jeffery Klump both of Georgetown, Ohio; two grandchildren - Tim Brookbank and Brooke Cornette; six step-grandchildren - Justin and Jared Cluxton, Sarah and Samantha Schaen and Karlie and Kayden Klump and best friends - Frankie and Caryl Carrington of Georgetown, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Ruth Dunn and David Eversole will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 5 P.M. at the church. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio, with military services provided by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown, Ohio. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 401 South Main Street, Georgetown, Ohio 45121 or to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
