Kay Walton Haag, age 70 of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 after a long illness. She was born on April 19, 1938 in Huntington Township to Martha June Scott Walton and the late Wilson P. Walton. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John M. and Joel W. Walton.
Besides her mother, she is survivedA by two daughters, Kristen Kennedy and husband Michael of Aberdeen, Ohio and Allison Haag of Aberdeen, Ohio; two nephews, David Valdez of Houston, Texas and Keith A. Hall of Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren - Dylan and Mackenzie Kennedy and Morgan and Madeline Zerbe, all of Aberdeen, Ohio and one sister - Arlene Walton Hall of Mayslick, Kentucky.
Kay was a lifetime member of The Ebenezer United Methodist Church. A retired banker, she started her career at Citizens National Bank in Ripley, Ohio, and later was promoted to manager of the new Aberdeen branch in the early 1970's. At the time of her retirement, she was employed by The Cumberland in Maysville, Kentucky. She was a member of The Ebenezer UMW, The Red Hatters Society, an early advisor of the Huntington Hotshots 4-H club, and a charter member of the Aberdeen-Huntington Township Museum, in which she took great pride.
Kay was an accomplished pianist and began playing the piano for church services at the age of eleven. She was well known for her musical productions including church cantatas, the Saturday night Fizzleville Fair entertainment, and local variety shows. From the mid 1980's until her illness prevented her continuance, she taught piano to many budding musicians and held numerous recitals. The relationships formed with these students and the furthering of an abiding love of music was one of her greatest joys.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 24, 2008 at The Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Aberdeen, Ohio. Rev. Ken Harmon will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 23 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Interment will be in The Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
