Lena D. Walker, age 86 of New Vienna, Ohio, formerly of Ripley, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at The Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro, Ohio. Ms. Walker was a 1940 graduate of Ripley Union Lewis High School and was retired from U.S Shoe Corporation in Ripley. She was a member of The Centenary United Methodist Church in Ripley. Ms. Walker was a loving mother and grandmother and was well known for her love of the farm land and cattle. Ms. Walker was born on June 27, 1922 in Ripley, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert and Pearl (Bartley) Daugherty. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son David Lesile Walker; one brother Capt. Robert Daugherty; and one nephew ADI First Officer Alan Daugherty.
Ms. Walker is survived by one daughter Diana Lynn Walker and one granddaughter Cierra Lynn Walker both of New Vienna, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Iris Daugherty, of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at The Centenary United Methodist Church in Ripley. Rev. Jaime Wirth will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
