Leon Wayne Woodham, known to all who loved him as Tony, passed away on October 31, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on March 17, 1940, he lived a life built on hard work, honest principles, and a steady love for the people around him that never wavered.
Tony was a proud member of Iron Workers Union Local 397 in Tampa, Florida, for 60 years before his retirement. Ironwork asks a great deal of a man: strength, nerve, skill, and complete trust in the people working beside him. Tony gave the trade everything he had, and over six decades he earned the lasting respect of those he worked with, not only for the quality of his work but for the way he carried himself on and off the job.
Those fortunate enough to share his company knew him as tough yet gentle in his own way. He had a quick wit and an easy southern charm, and a rare gift for keeping everyone around him smiling and laughing.
Tony lived his values every day. His work ethic was unshakable, his convictions were principled, and he never asked more of anyone than he asked of himself. He made good men great by leading, by mentoring, and above all by setting the example of what a man should be to his family, his colleagues, and the world. That example lives on in everyone he taught and everyone he loved.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathy Woodham; his son, Michael Woodham, and Michael's wife, Debora; his grandchildren, Emily Woodham and AJ Woodham; his stepson, Rodney Kinnett, and Rodney's wife, Cyndee; his brother, Mickey Woodham, and sister-in-law, Roma Woodham; and many nieces and nephews throughout Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Tony's strength, his laughter, and his steady presence will be deeply missed. The standard he set will keep guiding the family and friends he leaves behind, and the stories he gave them will keep them smiling, just as he would want. Rest easy, Tony. Your work here is done, and it was done well.
True to Tony's character in life, his take on death & dying are timeless, stating “…if they wanted to see me, they should have made the effort while I was alive…they won’t see me after I pass”.
Therefore, respecting Tony’s wishes, no public services will be provided.
