Leon P. Ward

Leon Preston Ward, age 76 of Winchester, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his residence. He was born October 19, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Murray Preston and Mary Honor (Tyler) Ward. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother - Michael Ward, one brother-in-law - Steven Norton and one niece - Latausha Norton.

Mr. Ward is survived by his loving wife -Nancy (Norton) Ward; three daughters -  Kimberly (Brian) Hart of Sardinia, Ohio, Tammy (Lorren) Burns of Winchester, Ohio and Kristina (Jay) Fetters of Winchester, Ohio; eight grandchildren - Brittany Noel Burns, David Warfe, Katerina Fetters, Joshua (Darma) Burns, Chelsea (fiancé Caleb) Hart, Destiny Hart, Luke (Rudy) Fetters and Zachary Hart; two great-grandchildren -Kolson and Preston Fetters; two brothers -Steve Ward and Ronnie Ward; three sisters - Vicki Ward, Debra Jo Frey and Teresa Bergfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leon was a retired heavy-equipment operator with the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment and building homes, leaving a lasting impact on the community through his work. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing, activities that brought him joy and tranquility. He also delighted in caring for a large garden and canning vegetables each year. Leon cherished his time spent in Florida, a place that held special memories for him. Above all, his family was the center of his universe; he embraced every moment spent with them, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories. His family fondly referred to him as “MacGyver,” a testament to his resourcefulness and ability to solve problems with ingenuity. He had the remarkable gift of making everything better and was always there with a helping hand or a thoughtful solution. Leon will be remembered for his unwavering support, kind heart and the fond memories he created with those who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Leon was a member of the Hope in Christ Fellowship Church in Winchester, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Winchester Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1540 Tri-County Highway, Winchester, Ohio 45697. Pastor Mark Cole will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Winchester Cemetery in Winchester, Ohio. The Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio is serving the family.
