Marlene (Newkirk) Westgerdes

Marlene Westgerdes, age 75 of Ripley, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at her residence.  She was a homemaker, an avid bingo player and loved being surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Westgerdes was born October 21, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie (Martin) Newkirk.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter – Alice Payne Schuck; four siblings – Hillard Newkirk, Clara Mae Koehler, Samuel “Junior” Newkirk and James Newkirk.

Mrs. Westgerdes is survived by her loving husband of 51 ½ years – Raymond Westgerdes; five daughters – Mary Ann Westgerdes of Ripley, Ohio, Beth Rae Severeid of Montana, Caryl Kay Westgerdes of Ripley, Ohio,  Robin Lynn Westgerdes (Joseph Woods) of Bethel, Ohio and Kim Mixer of Bethel, Ohio; nine grandchildren – K. Lakin Frankenhoff (Thomas), Ashley Hoover, Raymond L.Westgerdes (Misty), Tara Hoover, Courtney Severeid, Ryan Woods, Shelby Spradling, Cordell Severeid and Layne Severeid; five great grandchildren – Estin Frankenhoff, Haiden Carrawan, Annabell Westgerdes, Mya Westgerdes and Shayde Utley; as well as  many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday.  Interment will follow the funeral service in Shinkle’s Ridge Cemetery near Higginsport, Ohio.
