Mary Lea Davis Hursong, age 71 of Batavia, Ohio passed peacefully on January 9, 2015. Mary was born November 5, 1943 to the late LeaRoy & Mary Helen (Thompson) Davis on the family farm at Bald Point in Georgetown, Ohio. Beloved mother of John (Michelle) Hursong of Cincinnati, Ohio and Brian (Kristin) Hursong of Hamersville, Ohio. Loving grandmother to Ethan, Violet, Jacob and Hannah. Dear sister of David (Penny) Davis, Victor (Cindy) Davis, William (Lindsey) Davis and Diana Davis. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary worked as a seamstress at King's Island, sewing costumes for park employees in the late 1970s. She then went on to work for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at East Fork State Park for more than 20 years. After retiring from the job she loved, she volunteered as a tutor with the Literacy Council of Clermont & Brown Counties and ran a home-based business. She enjoyed writing and documenting family history, as well as crocheting and needlepoint, for which she won multiple awards. She supported many causes and was an avid animal lover. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Literacy Council of Clermont & Brown Counties.
