Mary Helen Kabler, age 97 of Ripley, Ohio, died Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her residence.  She was retired from the former U.S. Shoe Factory in Ripley.  She was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a member of the Knight’s of Columbus Auxiliary, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a lifelong member of the DAV Auxiliary Unit 90, a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 367 Auxiliary and a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary as well as various other community organizations.  Mrs. Kabler was born May 13, 1922 in Ripley, Ohio the daughter of the late John Edward “Peck” and Myrtle Gertrude (Johnson) Schumann.  She was also preceded in death by her husband – Howard L. “Shorty” Kabler; two sons-in-law – Ed Hansen and Jim Bridges; one brother – Frank “Peck” Schumann and a sister-in-law – Pat Schumann.

Mrs. Kabler is survived by two daughters – Angela Marie Bridges of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Hansen of Ripley, Ohio; one son - Michael Lee Kabler and wife Diane of Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren – Amy Bridges Hammond of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kristen Bridges Hundemer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Heather Kabler Ball of Columbus, Ohio, Heidi Kabler-Syska of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marideth Hansen Buchinger of Centerville, Ohio and Amanda Hansen of St. Louis, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 16, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio.  Rev. Dohrman Byers will be the Celebrant.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 15 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
