Mary Edith Koewler, age 83 of Ripley, Ohio, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center near Ripley. She was born April 2, 1929 in Ripley, Ohio the daughter of the late John F. and Anna M. (Pfeffer) Koewler. She was also preceded in death by two brothers - Albert and John Raymond Koewler and one sister - Margaret Ann Koewler.

Edie graduated as Valedictorian from Ripley High School and took a job as a teller at the Citizen's National Bank in Ripley. She retired at the age of 65 as head cashier. Not only was she a lifelong resident of Ripley, Edie was also a lifelong member of St. Michael Church Catholic Church, a participant in the Rosary Altar Society and a member of the Ripley Red Hat Society. She will be remembered mostly for her beautiful spirit and acceptance of her illness.

Edie is survived by two brothers - William "Toodles" Koewler and Charles Robert "Bob" Koewler, both of Ripley and one sister - Ruth (Koewler) Schiffer of Michigan, as well as by her dear cousin and lifelong companion Jeanette Spiller. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews - Sharon (Tom) Marks, Deacon Gerald (Kathy) Schiffer, Judith (Dennis) Grimski, Linda (Dennis) MacRae, all of Michigan; Sandy (Bob) Schnell, Maureen (Mike) Harvey, Donnie (Mary Beth) Koewler, all from Ohio; Kris (Al) Chidester form New Hampshire, Barb (Mark) Storum from North Carolina; guardian and cousins - Phil (Hazel) Germann of Cincinnati, Ohio as well as many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caretaker, Lynda Jennett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Dohrman Byers will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
